This meditation was recoded on Jan 16, 2025 and it serves as a reset for the year ahead. Prior to the guided journey there is a brief talk about the Egyptian Pantheon, Ma'at, and some teachings regarding gratitude and groundedness. I invite you to use this meditation at the beginning of any journey whether it be the start of a new year, a new chapter, a new week, as a way to get clear on what you are grateful for in this moment and how to move forward from a grounded place.

Hi everyone,

Welcome.

Today is January 16th,

2025.

And I would like to take you on a meditation to Egypt,

To the pyramids.

But before we do that,

I'd like to talk a little bit about Egypt and the pantheon and just give you some background information.

When working with the Egyptian pantheon and the goddesses,

It's important to remember that the Egyptian priests and priestesses used to orient their temples to the stars.

They knew that the celestial gates opened paths to higher consciousness.

For this meditation,

I invite you to use your body as an antenna for connection to the cosmos,

To the cosmic and source energy.

So,

If you use your body instead of a temple,

Your body will become the temple.

The goddess that I'd like to talk about today and meditate on today is Maat.

Maat was born the daughter of Ra,

The sun god.

Ra is said to create life through his right eye by speaking the name out loud and thereby into existence.

He created Maat to represent balance and justice.

She was the foundation for which their society was built.

If a person lived their life in harmony with people as well as the earth,

They were said to be living according to Maat.

She created the 42 laws of Maat.

She is justice,

Balance,

And order of cosmic law.

Not the law of the people,

But the law of the cosmos.

She represents judgment.

She's often depicted with an ostrich feather that she uses to weigh against the heart of the deceased to determine their placement in the afterlife.

As I was thinking of Maat and the importance of meditations,

One of the guiding principles for me in my meditative practice is around groundedness.

That if we are not grounded in our current timeline and reality,

If we are not aligned with harmony and justice,

And balance on the planet,

It makes it difficult to seek gratitude,

To have gratitude for the day in and day out of our lives and experiences.

Much like Maat,

We're asked to leave the world as we found it,

To appreciate the creation for what it is.

If we are not grounded and present in this moment and in tuned with our surroundings,

How do we know what they are and how we're affecting them?

Today's meditation is called Seeking Gratitude Through Groundedness.

Seeking gratitude,

Meaning to be in the hunt for,

To seek out,

To find.

How do I find gratitude?

Is it lost?

Was it ever really there?

How will I know when I found it?

Groundedness,

Meaning that the way to find gratitude is by coming back to the self,

Rooting down into the places you know and seeking clarity in the places within the self that you don't normally look.

Groundedness is a state of being that involves a sense of stability,

Inner strength,

And connection to the present moment.

In order to be grounded,

We must be aware of our thoughts,

Feelings,

And actions.

When we are aware,

We respond and move with a sense of purpose,

Both for our own lives and the lives of others.

Being grounded means moving in alignment with the values and from a place of truth and deep knowing.

When we are grounded,

We are open to different perspectives,

Thoughts,

And beliefs.

We are able to hear these through an unclouded lens without reacting in anger,

Fear,

Or resentment.

So,

How do we ground?

What are some practices that help us seek groundedness?

Come into a comfortable seat,

Your feet flat on the floor,

Your hips and your spinal column aligned,

Head over heart and heart over pelvis.

Gently tuck your chin,

Allowing the crown of the head to point towards the heavens.

Breathe.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Hold it at the top for a second,

And then sigh it out,

Allowing yourself to land here,

In this moment,

In this practice,

In your body.

Imagine roots growing out of the soles of your feet.

These soles connect down deep within the earth,

Holding you here,

Anchoring you here.

And you begin to imagine a light shining out of the crown of your head,

Connecting you to the heavens.

To the celestial realm above.

Here,

Connected to source energy and earth energy.

You become the vessel.

Become the channel of light.

Imagine a light shining out of the crown of your head.

Imagine the light pouring in from above,

Igniting your third eye,

The base of your throat,

Your heart,

Your solar plexus.

And then imagine breathing in earth energy from the soles of your feet,

Into your knees,

Your hips,

Your pelvic bowl,

And then within your abdomen,

The place where earth is.

Imagine where earth energy and source energy meet and swirl together.

Imagine a spiral,

A swirling of the two energies.

And on your next breath in,

You're going to journey in,

Into that spiral.

I will count backwards from five to one,

As you journey inward.

And we will meet standing at the base of the temple within yourself.

Four,

Three,

Two,

One.

You are inside,

Inside the vessel that is yourself,

At the base of your own inner temple or pyramid,

Your own place of divine guidance.

See it fully in your mind's eye.

You look up and you see a starry,

Clear night sky above.

The moon shines bright overhead.

And as the bright moonlight shines down,

It illuminates a door of your temple.

You make your way up the stairs,

And in through this passageway that is illuminated by the celestial energy above.

And as you're making your way inside,

You notice a river water flowing from a fountain.

The fountain overflows and creates this stream of water along the floor.

You begin to follow it inward,

Inward towards source,

Inward towards the fountain.

As you make your way to the fountain,

There's a set of double doors behind it.

And you walk over to the doors and you're greeted by Maat.

The first thing you notice is the ostrich feather in her hand.

She opens the doors and invites you inside.

This room in your inner temple is filled with gold and feathers and light and air.

There stands a pillar in the center of the room.

You make your way over to it.

Maat follows you,

Standing on the other side of the temple.

And she says,

This is your inner book of laws,

Guidance,

Divining principles.

You look down at the book,

And as you do,

You notice that the pages are empty.

They're blank pages.

She hands you the ostrich feather that is now a quill pen and the ink is there on the podium.

And she tells you to take your time and write down all of the things in your life that you're grateful for.

You take the pen and you begin to write your list.

She stands and waits.

You take your time.

You're in no rush here.

You want to make sure that you can capture all of the things that you have in your life that you're grateful for.

When you finish writing,

You look up and Maat is standing there with her hands outstretched.

You take the book,

You close it,

And you hand it to her.

And when you do,

She turns and she tosses it into the fire.

She turns to you and she says,

And so it is.

As you have written all of the things that you are grateful for,

You have cast into the universe,

Into the ether,

Your own divine guiding life principles.

In order to maintain the things you are grateful for,

There are certain paths that you must follow.

There are certain cosmic laws that you must obey.

And there are certain paths that you must not follow.

She takes your hands.

She leads you back out of the room and out of the temple.

You're standing under the night sky.

And she asks you to dig.

You look down at the ground,

Taking in anything that you see,

Noticing the landscape beneath your feet,

And you begin to dig.

As you do,

You uncover objects along your way,

Pulling them out and collecting them,

Taking note of what you find.

She motions for you to stop.

You reach down and pick up the objects that you've collected while digging.

You examine each of them and you ask her what they mean.

Perhaps she gives you an answer.

Perhaps you hear her voice.

Perhaps you hear the answer from within.

Make note of these objects.

There is one that you know instinctively is not for you.

And you take it and hand it to Maat as an offering,

As a sense of gratitude.

For her taking the time to show you,

To be with you on your journey.

She accepts your gift.

She accepts your offering.

With your other items in hand,

You begin to make your way out of your temple,

Out of your spiral.

And back into this timeline,

This dimension,

This space,

This body.

Wiggle your fingers and your toes,

Taking a moment to come back.

I invite you to grab a journal and a pen and write down what you've found.

Anything that showed up for you.

Anything that you saw.

Anything you were grateful for.

Welcome back.

Blessed day.

Blessed be.

Namaste.
