When we breathe in through the nose and hum out, the prolonged hum helps to release nitric oxide. Nitric oxide aids in the relaxation of blood vessels there for helping with blood pressure regulation. Please enjoy this humming practice to help with stress relief. Let whatever sounds come out that feels natural to you! No need to try to harmonize or sing what you hear in the recording, just release a hum on any note, or even just listen if that's all you would like to do.

Transcript

I'm going to guide you through a brief humming exercise.

When we hum for long periods of time,

This helps to resonate in our nasal passages a vibration that will help stimulate the release of nitric oxide.

Nitric oxide helps dilate your blood vessels and lower your blood pressure.

So what we're going to do is breathe in for four counts through the nose and simply hum out.

You want to focus on keeping a relaxed jaw,

Teeth separated inside of your mouth.

Here we go,

Exhale completely.

Breathing in,

Two,

Three,

Four,

And hum.

One last deep breath through the nose,

Release out the mouth.
