Find a quiet place where you can sit or lie down comfortably,

Close your eyes and take a deep breath in,

Hold it for a moment,

And exhale slowly.

Let your body relax with each breath.

Allow yourself to arrive here,

Now,

In this moment.

The present moment is all there is.

In this meditation,

We will explore the nature of fear,

How it ties us to the past and the future,

And why the now is the only place where life truly happens.

Imagine a moment in your life when fear gripped you.

Perhaps it was a difficult conversation,

A moment of deep uncertainty,

Or a time when you felt powerless.

Picture this memory as clearly as you can.

Feel the weight of it,

The emotions attached to it.

Maybe your heart races,

Your palms sweat,

Or your breath shortens.

Now gently step back from the memory.

Observe it as if you were watching it on a screen.

Ask yourself,

Is this happening now?

No,

It is a shadow of the past,

Kept alive only by your mind.

Notice how your body reacts to something that no longer exists.

Something that is only a memory.

Now slowly focus on your breath.

With each exhale,

Release the hold this moment has on you.

It is gone.

It is no longer real.

Breathe in,

And as you exhale,

Let it fade like mist in the morning sun.

Now let's journey forward.

Imagine yourself standing at the edge of a cliff,

Looking down into the vast expanse below.

There is no immediate danger,

Only the height,

The space,

And your own thoughts.

Your mind begins to worry.

What if I slip?

What if I lose control?

Fear keeps you frozen.

But pause for a moment.

Is it truly fear?

Or is it simply awareness?

Is this not just a part of your natural intelligence,

Recognizing a risk?

You are not in danger.

You are simply alive,

Standing at the edge,

Being aware.

Breathe in,

And as you exhale,

Let go of the illusion of fear.

See the difference between anxiety and presence.

Fear anticipates an event that hasn't happened,

But presence simply acknowledges what is.

Right now,

In this very moment,

You are safe.

Feel the strength in your body.

The ground beneath you.

The life flowing within.

Let go of the past.

Release the future.

Sink deeply into this moment.

Feel your breath moving in and out.

Notice the gentle rhythm of your heartbeat.

Observe the sensations in your body.

How your hands rest.

Feel the warmth or coolness of your skin.

The space around you.

There is no yesterday.

There is no tomorrow.

There is only now.

Feel this truth in your entire being.

In this moment,

There is nothing to fear.

There is only breath.

There is only presence.

There is only life happening now.

Stay here for as long as you need.

Breathe.

Feeling the peace of the present wash over you.

When you are ready,

Gently bring awareness back to your surroundings.

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

Slowly open your eyes.

To bring the power of presence into your daily life,

Begin each morning with a simple mirror exercise.

Stand in front of a mirror,

Look into your own eyes,

And ask yourself,

Who am I?

Not just your name,

Age,

Or occupation.

Who are you truly?

What do you feel?

What thoughts arise?

Observe without judgment.

Each day as you continue this practice,

A deeper awareness of self will emerge.

Now ask yourself,

Do I have a problem in this moment?

Notice how the answer is always no.

Problems only exist when colored by fear from the past or insecurity about an unpredictable future.

In this present moment,

Right here,

Right now,

All is well.

May you walk forward with a deep sense of peace,

Grounded in the beauty of the present moment.

Namaste.

Mooi, maar nu ook lastig, mijn man aan de telefoon vanuit het verpleeghuis is somber. Daar kan ik nu niets aan doen, maar het voelt toch vervelend.
