Hello,
My sleepy friend,
Welcome back to the Grounded Sleep Podcast.
I'm David,
And tonight we're going to go on a deep sleep journey by visualizing our own sleep sanctuary.
But before we get there,
You might be asking,
David,
Where have you been?
It's been many months since I've created a sleep journey for you,
And I needed a break just to relax and teach some of my other stuff.
Let's see,
I went to Italy for New Year's to help guide a wedding,
And I taught a retreat in Mexico,
And I went on a ski trip with a group of friends,
And soon I'll be leaving for New York and then Bali for a month to teach.
So I've been on my journeys and going on journeys,
And it's really nice to be back here with you.
So why don't we get ready for sleep?
Make sure your teeth are brushed,
You got your PJs on,
The room temperature is just right,
The room is dark,
And just do whatever else you need to do to make sure the energy and the space is set so you can have a deep,
Restful sleep tonight.
And it is important to treat our space and treat our sleep as sacred.
This is a sanctuary where you're leaving your body,
Going on journeys,
Allowing yourself to rest,
And then reincarnating again in the morning.
So treat it with that reverence.
Eyes closed,
And go ahead and slow your breathing down about 20%.
Start to relax your belly.
You can relax your jaw and your hands.
You can relax the back of your head on the pillow.
Relax your feet and relax your entire body.
And what I'd like you to do is,
In your mind's eye,
Create a sleep sanctuary room.
So this space that you're going to visualize is where your energetic body is going to lay down and sleep.
So you can imagine a room that makes you really comfortable for sleep.
It might look identical to your bedroom,
Or it might be entirely different.
Perhaps you want to sleep in a very peaceful monastery,
Or a room full of flowers and plants,
Maybe a waterfall coming off the wall,
Crystals,
Or a big open dome where you can see the stars.
So what I'd like you to do is start creating this room.
You can decide on the floors and the walls.
Start with the shape,
And you can have it dimly lit.
Maybe there's some candles or just some dimly lit lights.
And you want to make it safe,
Calm,
And comfortable.
So you can decide on the furniture,
On the bed you're going to be laying on.
You'll notice if there's any plants or flowers,
If there's wallpaper,
Or if the walls have paintings on them,
Or perhaps you're kind of outside,
And you can be as creative as you want,
But just make sure that this space is a sleep sanctuary.
So allow this room to really start to take form.
There is the physical space that you sleep in,
And this is the energetic,
Mental space that you sleep in.
So make sure you have a clear image of the bed.
The blankets are as soft as you want them to be.
The pillows are just right.
And before you get into this bed,
On the wall,
There are two knobs.
One is for the lighting,
So you can dim it as much as you want to.
And the second is a calmness knob.
So if you turn the knob far to the right,
Like if you were making a volume knob louder,
It would make it less calm and noisy,
And if you turn it down to the left,
You're making it more calm,
You're making it quiet.
So turn that calmness knob all the way to the left,
Turn the volume all the way down.
Feel your entire body and system relax as you do that.
Have the lighting just right or all the way off or close to it,
And then just see yourself get into and lay in this bed.
When you get into this energetic bed,
You take a real deep breath,
A nice sigh out,
A release,
Just that,
Oh,
Feels good to get into bed.
And not just any bed,
This is your sacred sleep sanctuary bed.
Feel its comfort,
Its warmth,
Its relaxation.
Notice that you feel safe,
Calm,
And comfortable.
This is your sleep sanctuary.
This is where you can totally let go and drift off into a deep rest.
Let the weight of your body start to melt into the bed.
Allow your worries and thoughts to drift off.
As you let go of the day,
You're allowing yourself to deepen into an incredibly restful sleep.
Feeling a sense of inner peace just washing over your body.
And this is your sanctuary for sleep.
Have a beautiful night and get a deep,
Deep rest.
