Yeah,
So go ahead,
Close your eyes very gently.
Now I would like to start by just draw your shoulders a little bit away from your ears.
Okay?
Just draw them down a little bit.
And it's a little symbolic of just kind of putting the world down.
For the next however many minutes,
You're just putting the world down,
Letting the world go.
You don't have to hold it up on your shoulders.
And you know what?
Just for the fun of it,
Why don't you just tap tap your own third eye?
Just take your index finger or your middle finger,
Just tap your third eye a few times.
With your eyes closed,
Just awaken your mind's eye.
And then if you want,
You could tap on your temples a few times as well.
Tap on those temples.
This is your mind's eye.
This is your temple,
Right?
Your temple is right in between your temples.
This is where you can see.
You can see your own answers,
See your own realizations.
And then you can put your hands down.
So we close our physical eyes,
And we awaken our inner eye,
And we awaken our inner heart.
That's how we start to meditate.
And so we're going to do this meditation in four steps.
Before we even get to those four steps,
I want you to just be sitting behind your eyes in the center of your head.
And you can imagine that the screen of your mind's eye is on so you can see images if you want to in your mind's eye.
Some of us,
When we meditate,
We feel,
We see,
We sense,
We know,
We hear.
It's okay,
Whatever way it comes out,
But have the opportunity to see.
You know when someone says,
Oh,
I see that realization.
Oh,
There's insight.
So we're learning to see in here.
What I'd like you to do right now is to see out in front of you,
A nice big soap bubble,
Just a beautiful little big,
Whatever size soap bubble you want.
And in this soap bubble,
Just allow one thing to arise that that one thing that you can't put off until tomorrow.
Something that's deeply valuable to you.
That somehow in your life isn't quite reconciled yet.
So,
For example,
Maybe you want a family and you don't have one or you keep having anxiety about money,
Or you worry about death,
Or you're constantly irritated or anxious around a certain topic,
Or you want something that's just not coming to fruition.
Step one,
I want you to just be as honest,
As honest,
As honest as you possibly can be.
Just what's that one thing today,
Not the don't intellectualize it.
What's the one thing today,
Right now that arises for you?
Maybe you're surprised by it.
Maybe you see the energy or the image of it in that soap bubble,
Or maybe you just sense it.
So one thing that needs some reconciliation,
Some healing,
Some insight,
Some wisdom.
What is that one thing for you today?
And I'm willing to bet that there's either some fear or anxiety or dissatisfaction around this one thing.
Perhaps some need for control or to make it perfect.
We'll get to that in a moment.
I want you to acknowledge deeply with your heart,
Acknowledge with your heart this one thing.
You know how in Japan when people sometimes see each other,
They bow,
Right?
Put their hands over their heart and they bow.
You can almost bow to this one thing.
And you know that feeling you get when somebody really sees you.
What would it be like for you to see this issue?
Really see it.
See it for what it is.
And make sure you're breathing nice and deeply.
And you're inviting this one issue into your mind's eye.
So this is your home.
Maybe you're going to serve it some tea.
It's not your enemy.
So step one,
We're just acknowledging this one thing.
This one thing that we're looking to heal,
Create,
Understand,
Deepen into.
And then step two,
I want you to notice any form of dissatisfaction around it.
Why hasn't this come to fruition?
Why does it make me fearful or anxious or upset?
Controlling.
I don't want you to do anything yet.
Just notice the energetic quality of the dissatisfaction around this one thing.
I don't want you to get acquainted with this dissatisfaction.
This thing in my life,
This energy,
This person,
It isn't perfect yet.
I love this quote that enlightenment is not having anxiety over imperfection.
And yet,
Here we are,
We often do.
So let's face it.
One of the things that starts to happen when we're meditating and we face some form of dissatisfaction is we get irritated or we go into resistance or we want to quit.
And most of all,
We get way too serious.
So I want you to,
Right now,
As you're looking at this,
Maybe you just make an animal sound out loud just for the fun of it,
Just like a kitten like,
Mew,
Mew.
Woof.
That was a cow.
Ease up the seriousness.
Ease up the tension.
Sheep.
Got tigers and sheep.
We got a room full of animal meditators today.
Good.
But the first thing that the Buddha did when he had his awakening was he probably smiled.
Then they made a statue of him where he wasn't smiling.
He's probably like,
Hey,
I was smiling.
Growling bear,
Wolf,
Lion.
Good.
Good.
Yeah.
So step one,
We're becoming aware of that one thing and being honest with what it is.
Step two,
We're becoming aware of the dissatisfaction that it hasn't come into fruition or form in whatever way we're hoping.
Step three,
We're going to start to heal it.
Now,
What I mean by that is maybe there's some energy that you're ready to let go of,
Some layer of the onion that's ready to peel off,
Some hardened ice of resistance that's ready to start to melt off,
Some pain that's ready to rise to the surface.
So what is that energy that's kind of been holding you back?
Maybe you're like,
You know what,
It's dissatisfaction is just this anxiety that things won't work out.
I want you to just face it and feel it.
Feel it.
And as you feel it,
Perhaps it starts to almost come viscerally come out of you,
Maybe it drains out of your body down into like a shower drain.
You might see it as a color or energy.
Have you ever seen like a goose come out of a fight out of a lake and then it like just ruffles,
It shakes it off its feathers or a dog when it shakes off water?
Maybe kind of one of those happens to you.
Perhaps the cause of the suffering in your life is from you believing that this dissatisfaction with this energy is forever.
And it's here to punish you.
And this is who you are and you're never getting out of it.
Thanks,
David.
Thanks for the pep talk today.
I want you to recognize that that's not true.
There is no energy that is forever.
That is a fundamental principle of life.
There is no energy we're dealing with that is forever.
It will stay until we learn from it and integrate it and then it can go.
So for today,
In this moment with me in this meditation,
What is the energy that you're ready to really face and feel and release?
And the releasing happens at its own time.
The more honestly you face it,
The more easily it releases.
There's nothing else you really need to do is accept really face it and feel it.
I used to be terrified as a kid of public speaking.
I would shake.
And I had to face it.
And then slowly over time it melted off.
And if you have this idea,
Like I've been suffering from this for a number of years,
It's really just right now in this moment.
Don't compound it.
Just whatever the energy is right now,
That amount.
It's not like you eat all the meals that you're ever going to eat in your life in one sitting.
You eat one meal at a time.
And in meditation,
We focus on one energy at a time.
So whichever one energy arises.
See if you can surrender the tension.
Surrender the tension in whatever form it takes.
I'll say that one more time.
Surrender the tension in whatever form it takes.
And the fourth step here is as we heal,
Then we start to understand.
So this energy is clearly here to teach you something,
Show you something,
Give you insight into you and your life.
And if you have this feeling of I want to wait till later,
Then you should definitely look at it now.
I want to say whatever you're feeling is normal.
Anything,
Everything you're feeling is totally valid.
So as you're releasing and healing from this,
What is it teaching you?
What is it really showing you?
Who is it deepening you into?
So if you're afraid,
Like I mentioned,
I was afraid of public speaking,
Then that growth for me deepened into me being myself in front of other people and allowing myself to be seen.
So for me,
That was an arc of growth that will never end.
It continues.
So what is that arc of growth for you here?
What is that arc of growth?
Are you afraid to love?
Are you afraid to take action?
Are you afraid to look at shame?
What is it for you?
And what is that arc of growth?
It's important to understand the bigger picture here.
What is that bigger picture?
I want you to really own it.
Maybe even see it in that soap bubble.
This is your life.
What is more important than this arc of growth for you?
And the byproduct of you really facing all of this in yourself is going to be a form,
Some form of inner peace.
The inner peace is on the other side of the anxiety or on the other side of the fear.
I know,
I get it.
It can be unpleasant.
You can smile at that anyway.
And before we finish our meditation,
I want you to just really own this energy for yourself.
This is your journey.
This is your life path.
It's not some other sexy thing that somebody else said.
Enlightenment is about this.
Thank you,
Old bearded wise one.
But I'm going through this.
I'm stuck on this actually.
You go with what's in front of you and own it.
I want you to really own it.
If you can own it,
Then your life is going to really start to unfold in a healthy,
Purposeful way.
Otherwise,
You'll just be spinning in other people's expectations.
One more big deep breath in.
Easy sigh out.
Great work.
When you're ready,
If you have a soap bubble in front of you of whatever this energy is,
I want you to just take it,
Just bring it into your heart.
Just integrate it into your heart.
This is for you.
You can continue to work on it anytime.
Great job.

So powerful. I had anxiety bubbling up over a social engagement, and thought it was for a particular reason. After doing this meditation, I realized it was actually facing my fear of imperfection, of not being good enough for the others. This meditation helped me come to terms with where I am, accept my imperfection, and understand my arc is all that matters- not how I hold up to someone else. Thank you for an enlightening practice, David. πππ

Thank you! I realised today, through your words and support that my real issue is fear of rejection. I write little picture books for children but never send them to agents saying oh theyβre not good enough. What I seem to be doing is cutting out the middle man and rejecting myself before anyone else canβ¦. All in my soap bubble, in my heart now for me to work on, bless you ππΌ LS in the UK
