All right,
I want to walk you through a really powerful morning meditation that I like to do,
That I like to teach my students.
And you can do this every single morning if you like.
It'll help you ground,
Set your energy and go into your day with presence.
So let's go ahead and get started.
Find a comfortable spot to sit like this with your legs crossed in a chair,
Whatever feels good to you.
And you can wiggle your shoulders around a little bit and then drop them.
And you can relax your hands.
We hold a lot in our hands.
Relax the palms of your hands.
Maybe relax your waist.
And as you start to breathe slower into your belly,
Relax those nerve endings in your stomach.
And as you gently close your eyes,
If you haven't yet,
Just start to draw your attention inward.
From all of the stuff going on in the objective external world,
You're pulling your energy into your subjective internal world.
And my voice is just some guidance.
And let's begin by just grounding ourselves.
So I want you to imagine a beautiful tree trunk,
Any kind of tree that comes to you.
Just imagine the trunk of that tree growing out of the base of your spine,
Down into the planet,
Really deep into the earth,
All the way till it reaches a nice hard rock area,
Somewhere where it can root in into the soil,
Something very sturdy.
And just let the roots of the tree just grow in every direction,
Wide and deep.
And feel that tree root in.
It goes all the way up to the base of your spine.
And now your entire body is rooted into the planet.
Let yourself feel what it's like to be grounded and rooted into the earth.
We're all born from this planet.
We're all made of earth.
Just validate that connection.
It might even make you feel a bit more safe.
A tree is always in your heart.
In this moment,
Tree can't be in the past or the future.
Allow it to help you ground into this moment.
And then from here,
As you really start to get here,
I want you to just notice your own internal weather today.
Just like the earth has an atmosphere,
I want you to notice the atmosphere around you.
Is it noisy?
Is it anxious?
Is it cloudy with emotion?
Or is it calm and clear?
You're just observing without any need to change anything.
Just observing the weather.
Allowing your breath to slow down,
Allowing your body to slow down,
Just allowing your whole life to slow down.
Notice what it's like to let yourself just be here this morning.
For the rest of your life,
There'll be somewhere to go and something to do.
There's always a seduction of being pulled into the future or back into the past.
And you can even allow that energy to pass like a cloud.
That energy that says,
But pay attention to this.
Remember that.
We need to resolve this thing.
Just let that pass.
Allow this tree to ground you and just notice whatever you notice.
Perhaps you straighten your back a bit more,
Drop those shoulders a bit more.
Feel your body.
Just be in your body.
Feel it here in this moment.
This beautiful morning,
This beautiful day.
It's going to unfold and you get to decide if you're going to be present for it or not.
And what kind of quality of energy do you want to show up with?
Openness,
Compassion,
Love,
Curiosity,
Presence.
Do you want to be a healing force in the world or a creative force?
Perhaps as you walk through the day,
Something wants to emerge from you.
You can just acknowledge whatever it is that wants to emerge from you today.
Maybe there's a theme.
And the more you sit and meditate each morning,
Each day,
The more you train yourself and recognize that it's always this moment and there's always a seduction to be pulled somewhere else.
And the more you're here,
The more you can create.
It's almost counterintuitive.
The more you're present,
The more you can create the future.
The more you're present,
The more you can heal the past.
I call it the present because it's a gift.
So give your gift of presence today to yourself and to everyone around you.
I want you to take a nice big deep breath in with me.
Hold in the whole universe for a moment and then sigh out.
Slowly open your eyes and stretch.
Great work.
Thank you for sitting with me.
I'll see you soon.
