Sometimes food can be used to distract ourselves from uncomfortable feelings. Transitions can often lead to uneasy feelings, too. If we use food to soothe ourselves, then it becomes a habit. Often, we can be on autopilot and not even realize that we have reached for food to soothe ourselves. We can practice allowing the feeling to be present without immediately trying to fix or avoid it.

Hi,

This is Danielle and I have a soundbite for you called self-soothing snacking.

So sometimes when we are trying to distract ourselves or we're stressed out,

We want a snack and we typically will reach for sugar or carbs when we're not hungry.

And that can become a self-soothing technique that may or may not be the best technique all the time.

So if we can,

It's a good idea to have other types of ways to soothe ourselves.

So I created these mantras to repeat over and over again so they can become part of your new programming,

Say it so you believe it.

So I'm going to say these mantras,

You can either repeat it to yourself or you can just listen to me.

I am learning to be aware when I want to eat to relieve my stress.

I'm learning to be aware when I want to eat to relieve my stress.

I'm aware that eating may not be the best solution for me right now.
