By allowing ourselves to feel what we feel we practice non-resisting life as it is. As we practice non-resistance against our emotions - neither internally nor acting out externally we learn to accept ourselves as we are. As we “start where we are”, we create a space. In this space, we can start to relax our hearts rather than closing and armoring and cutting ourselves off from our environment and people around us.

Please find a comfortable pose sitting or lying down in which you can be both concentrated and fully present and at ease.

You can take a few deep inhalations and exhale relaxing the body.

Taking a few inhalations with the exhale relaxing.

And as if you were lying your hand on the head of a child with that attitude of kindness and benevolence and openness.

Bringing your awareness to your breath.

And maybe just feeling the breath in this moment.

Allowing the breath to flow naturally.

Not having to do anything about it at the moment.

Not having to get it right.

Just seeing if you can just observe the breath.

Allowing it to be the way it is.

Maybe you notice a judgment about the breath or a pleasant or an unpleasant sensation.

Seeing if you can just let the breath be.

Bringing your awareness then to the sounds.

The sounds you can hear anywhere in the room or outside or even inside.

Allowing the sounds to manifest.

To be there for a moment.

To disappear.

And allowing the sounds to just be sounds.

Bringing your awareness to the sensations in your body.

Allowing any sensations in the body.

And again with that same benevolent and kind attitude.

Seeing those sensations in this moment.

Allowing them to be some pleasant,

Some unpleasant,

Some neutral.

See what happens if you say yes to this experience.

Not resisting,

Not pushing anything away,

Not holding on to anything.

Allowing the sensations to just be sensations in this moment.

Bringing your awareness to your emotions.

Becoming aware of the emotions manifesting.

Property through sensations in the body or thoughts in this moment.

Witnessing emotions as emotions.

Some pleasant,

Some unpleasant,

Some light,

Some heavy.

And seeing if you can say yes.

Yes to this experience.

Knowing that saying yes doesn't mean that you agree or you want this to last.

That it means that you don't resist your experience,

You're not trying to push it away or change anything.

Not clinging.

Just allowing these emotions to manifest,

To land in your body.

Maybe stay.

Maybe disappear quickly.

It doesn't mean that your life doesn't last.

Maybe some of the emotions are heavy and they draw you in and you are following the story.

Accepting what happens,

Observing their power and accepting that they are very powerful and very strong in this moment.

Seeing the seed of the observer again,

Observing their workings in your mind and in your body.

And then bringing your awareness to the thoughts.

Understanding thoughts entering center stage of your awareness.

You may notice how some thoughts carry a heavy emotional load and some don't.

Allowing the thoughts to manifest.

Allowing them to be the way they are,

Heavy or light,

Short or long,

Colorful,

Black and white,

Loud or very soft.

And again not clinging to the thoughts,

Not pushing them away,

Letting them be just thoughts.

Allowing them to be the way they are.

And if there is a thought that carries you away with a story,

Taking the seed of the observer again,

Observing how that mechanism of thought works on your mind and on your body.

How some thoughts are so enticing.

They tell you such a beautiful story,

You want to hang on to them.

And others are so heavy,

They just won't stop,

Cling to you and you want to push them away.

And the more you want to push them away,

The more they come back and stick around.

And maybe you can say yes to even that experience.

Just letting it be the way it is.

Becoming intimate with the processes of the mind,

The thoughts and the processes of the body and the mind,

The emotions and the sensations.

Just allowing,

Allowing this experience to be.

And maybe creating some room,

Some space as you open your heart to whatever arises.

As you stop resisting life as it is.

Maybe creating some space.

Do not try to save the world or do anything grandiose.

Instead create a clearing in the dense forest of your life.
