Hello my friend.

Thanks for showing up today.

It's a powerful moment,

A sacred pause to connect with your breath,

Your essence,

And with the infinite calm within you.

This meditation I've decided to do is specifically to help to stop your smoking.

It's no silver bullet but the idea is that when you want to have a smoke you will do this meditation to make you calm,

To bring you into the present,

And to help get your head where it needs to be.

Let's begin by settling in.

Find a comfortable position,

Whether that's seated or lying down.

Allow your hands to gently rest on your lap or at your sides,

Whatever is most comfortable for you.

Slowly close your eyes.

Let the outside world fade away far,

Far into the distance.

Now take a long,

Slow,

Deep breath in.

And exhale.

Now again,

Long,

Slow,

Deep breath in.

And gently release that.

Continuing with every breath,

I want you to breathe in power and breathe out any stress that you have.

With me,

Every time I breathe out,

I feel my stress level going down and down.

In power and out stress.

Sometimes I can physically feel my body lowering down little by little,

Especially my shoulders,

My neck.

In again and out again.

Releasing all that stress,

All that tension.

Now bring your awareness to your body.

Feel the point of contacts,

Your feet on the ground,

The body supporting you in your chair or lying down,

Allowing yourself to feel safe,

Supported and grounded.

Notice your breath,

Breathing in and out naturally.

In and out slowly and calmly.

You feel the warmth or the cold air coming in and you feel the breath going out as well.

I'm going to introduce a mantra.

This mantra is a sacred mantra and an ancient one.

It's Aham Brahmasmi.

Aham Brahmasmi.

I am the universe.

You can say it in Sanskrit or you can say it in English,

Whichever is more comfortable for you.

I like to use the Sanskrit because the words have less meaning to me.

But whatever makes you most comfortable.

Say it out loud to me now.

Aham Brahmasmi.

And again.

Aham Brahmasmi.

Now whisper it.

Aham Brahmasmi.

Aham Brahmasmi.

And now say it inside your head silently.

And again.

If you've never used a mantra,

All you do is simply repeat Aham Brahmasmi silently in your head.

Work your breathing to whichever way you want,

Whether it's saying the whole thing on the way in or say Aham as you breathe in and Brahmasmi as you breathe out.

I'll watch the time.

There's nothing else to worry about.

Now Aham Brahmasmi.

Aham Brahmasmi.

Aham Brahmasmi.

As you slowly come back to the present,

Thank yourself for giving yourself the time to slowly meditate and become present.

Take a long,

Slow,

Deep breath in.

And gently let that go.

Another long,

Slow,

Deep breath in.

And gently let that go.

Slowly wiggle your toes and your fingers and bring that feeling back into your body.

Maybe your neck,

Your shoulders.

I like to keep my eyes closed when I do this.

Maybe a little bit into your arms,

Your back,

Your legs,

Whatever is most comfortable.

Slowly open your eyes and welcome back.

This meditation is about 12 minutes long and I know it's unrealistic to ask you to do it every single time,

But what we want to do is make a commitment at the start that every time that you want to smoke,

You do this at the start,

A few times a day at least,

To wire your brain that every time you want it,

This is what you do.

And then any time during the day that you need it,

What I would say is once you do one,

Maybe first thing in the morning before you get out of bed and the day takes over,

That you just take a moment,

Sit back in your chair,

Close your eyes,

Take a few deep breaths in and out and say Aham Brahmasmi.

Set an alarm on your phone,

Give yourself two or three minutes and your brain will be wired to get calmer when this happens.

It's helped me an awful amount to get present and stay calm and I think it'll help you.

Remember when we set our intention for good,

There's not much else that we can do wrong.

So,

Aham Brahmasmi.

I am the universe.

Namaste.
