When we encounter loss,

Whether expected or sudden,

The aching emptiness and waves of emotion can leave us feeling disoriented,

Isolated,

Or overwhelmed.

Grief is a profound and deeply personal response to loss,

Be it the death of a loved one,

The loss of a beloved pet,

The end of a relationship,

Or any significant change in life.

Having feelings of grief is not a sign of weakness.

It is a natural,

Human response to losing someone or something meaningful.

In this meditation,

You are invited to show yourself compassion,

To recognize the healing that comes from feeling your feelings,

And to understand that allowing tears is a brave act of love for what was lost.

I will gently guide you through your feelings,

Remind you that what you experience is valid,

And help you begin to adapt,

Heal,

And honor your own unique path forward.

Through every step,

Know that I am with you in your heart,

Offering support and comfort as you move forward on your journey.

Let's begin by finding a quiet and comfortable space.

You can choose to be seated or lying down.

Let your eyes gently close.

Allow your hands to rest softly,

Perhaps over your heart or in your lap.

Take a slow,

Deep inhale,

And release it gently.

Again,

Take a slow,

Deep inhale,

And then exhale slowly.

Allow your breath to find its natural rhythm.

Begin to bring awareness where you feel the weight of your grief.

Perhaps in the chest,

The throat,

The eyes,

Or a sense of heaviness throughout your entire body.

There's no need to change these feelings.

Just notice,

Acknowledge,

And invite them to be present just as they are.

With each slow,

Steady inhalation,

Visualize yourself drawing in a gentle,

Soothing warmth.

A sensation like a soft sunlight or a reassuring embrace that gradually fills your body with comfort and safety.

As you exhale,

Picture every breath melting away tension,

Releasing just a small piece of the heaviness or discomfort you carry.

Feel your body softening with every outward breath,

Making space for calm and ease within.

Now softly focus your attention on your heart.

With every inhale,

Envision warmth collecting at your center,

Resting where feelings of grief might linger.

Let your breath gently support this delicate space,

Offering compassion and acceptance to whatever you discover there.

As you continue to breathe,

Silently tell yourself,

It's okay to feel.

I give myself permission to hold my emotions gently.

Visualize the gentle warmth surrounding your heart growing,

Softening the edges of sorrow,

Offering kindness to all parts of your experience.

If any memories or emotions surface,

Notice them with curiosity rather than judgment.

Let your breath remind you each wave of feeling is only visiting,

Passing through like clouds across the sky,

Meaningful but not permanent.

With patience and gentle intention,

Keep coming back to your breath,

Allowing comfort and healing to grow with every inhalation,

Every exhalation.

Trust that moment by moment,

You are nurturing a safe,

Compassionate space within yourself to honor loss and to invite peace.

Remember that grief doesn't always follow steps in order,

And feelings may repeat,

Overlap,

Or arrive unexpectedly.

Let yourself experience whatever arises.

Acknowledge and accept your feelings.

Gently say to yourself,

It is okay to feel what I feel.

My emotions are valid.

I give myself permission to grieve.

Now take a moment to remember what you have lost.

If you can,

Hold gratitude for the love,

The lessons,

The memories.

Without forcing it,

Consider how this experience may change you,

Deepen your empathy,

Or guide future actions,

Small glimpses of meaning in your own time.

Understand that grief is a natural aspect of life.

It is a journey of adapting and adjusting.

You are learning to live with loss,

Not by erasing it,

But by gently integrating it into the person you are evolving into.

Begin to bring awareness back to the present moment.

Feel the gentle rise and fall of your breath.

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

When you are ready,

Open your eyes.

Be gentle with yourself as you move forward,

Honoring your feelings with kindness and compassion.

Each breath you take is a step toward healing and acceptance.

Carry this awareness with you as you continue on your path,

Knowing that you are not alone.
