Hello and welcome to this session today where we are going to take control of the breath and regain our focus.
So today we are going to work through two extended rounds and for the first round we will be breathing in through the nose for a count of four seconds,
Then we hold at the top of the inhale for four seconds,
Exhale for four,
And then finally hold again for four at the bottom.
Some of you may be familiar with this technique or have heard of it as box breathing.
This will require a slight degree of focus but just try and flow with the rhythm of the breath.
After the first round there will be a pause and some time to just be immersed in the music.
Before we move on to the second round where we will be using the ujjayi breath.
To calm the mind and regain some balance.
For this round we will be breathing in for a count of eight seconds and then exhaling again for a count of eight seconds with no breath holds or retention in between.
Eight seconds of course is quite extended so if you feel this is strained or too much you can cut this in half and make it a count of four seconds on the inhale and four seconds on the exhale.
As always if your breathing becomes difficult or strained at any point in the session please just revert back to your natural relaxed breath.
So before we begin take just a moment to get yourself comfortable for the session.
If you can try and sit in a position with your spine nice and erect and when you are ready I'd like you to take just one deep breath in through the nose right up to the top and then on the exhale breathe out any tension from the body and from the mind.
Perfect.
So if we are ready let's begin the first round in three,
Two,
One.
At this point we can now just release the breath and return to our own natural rhythm.
And for the second round we now move on to the Bujai breath with an inhale for eight seconds and on the exhale again for eight seconds.
And when you are ready we will begin in three,
Two,
One.
At this point we can now just release the breath and return to our own natural rhythm.
Thank you for joining me on this session and I wish you have an amazing day.
