Hi my name's Louise.
Did you know that April is Stress Awareness Month?
What is stress?
Stress is our way of trying to cope with life.
Humans do have a stress response.
We do have a fight-or-flight response,
But of course this is historic where we need to protect ourselves from wild animals.
So we are made to have roughly 20 minutes of adrenaline rushing through our bodies so that we can escape or fight,
But in this day and age we don't need that.
Try telling our ego mind that.
It's constantly trying to look after us and it's constantly trying to do the right thing.
So we have a number of thoughts that flash through our brain telling us what to do,
How bad something is,
How we ought to change,
How we ought to do this or do that,
But the amazing thing is is that we don't have to listen to it.
It's not real and it's not true.
It's just our ego mind's way of trying to protect us in different situations and in actual fact it's like a computer.
It only has old references and old data fed in from situations we were in in another time and it uses the same data to regurgitate and try to protect us in this situation which could be entirely different.
It always amazes me how easy it is to slip from one state of mind to another.
A lot of the time I could be minding my own business and then I'm suddenly slammed by a list of worries and things I need to do and I go into almost panic mode.
Oh my gosh how am I gonna do this?
This is too complicated.
I can't do that.
I need to get,
I need to,
I can't ask for help.
What am I gonna do?
I've got a deadline.
But in actual fact if you think about it,
It's not the to-do list that gives you stress.
It's the thinking about what is on the to-do list that can give you stress.
So I'll give you a tip.
Take a few deep breaths.
Count to ten.
Notice things around the room.
Notice people around the room.
Do a bit of people watching.
What are they doing?
It's very interesting seeing how people are making reactions on a spare of the moment according to what's going on in front of them.
Just take a few minutes.
Take a few deep breaths and just notice what your thoughts are doing.
Just notice that you are having thoughts.
Just notice that in this very moment everything is okay and if you quiet your mind down enough that can give you the space to let your innate wisdom come through.
If you have a quiet mind,
Anything that you're going through or anything that you're facing looks different and your wisdom will come through to you and it will feel different.
It won't feel hurried or hurried or stressful.
It will feel nice,
Relaxed and it will make sense.
That is your innate wisdom and that is how you can go through life with less stress.
It's a game-changer.
It's amazing.
Just try it.
Keep your mind relaxed.
Just try it for a few moments and see how that feels and let me know in the comments if that has worked for you.
Try it over a few days and see how that works.
Till we meet again.
