I've been coaching teenagers lately.

I've found it absolutely fascinating and very rewarding.

The type of coaching I do is different to those psychotherapy type sort of mentoring where it's all based on Freud.

This is a different type of approach.

It's called the three principles where essentially you know that the person that you're talking to has innate health,

Innate wisdom and actually they have all the answers.

You don't have the answers and you don't need to fix them.

That is quite a big ask in a way because I am a mother and I do try to fix things and I do get told especially by one of my sons,

Can you just listen to what I'm saying and not try to give me the answers.

So that's it.

It's quite hard for me to it's like a natural kind of I'll try to fix this for you.

So yeah it's been quite quite a challenge and quite enlightening to really listen to people rather than trying to come up with solutions for them when they haven't really asked for them.

So yeah it's been quite interesting.

I worked with a young boy,

Very very timid,

Very very seemingly anxious.

He said that he came to see me to do with confidence.

So we talked about why he felt he needed that and I did my coaching and it was amazing.

The next week he kind of bounced into the room,

Sat on the chair,

Much more direct eye contact.

I could have said it was a different person.

It was really amazing and he told me what he'd been doing.

He'd been spending more time with his family.

They'd actually gone out for dinner at the weekend which they don't normally do.

He'd told his friends how they could be more confident by the way that you become more confident is to practice things over and over again and you just get better at them and that's where you get your confidence from.

So he'd obviously seen really something in what we'd talked about and what I'd pointed to and it was just so lovely to see this young man that just had more eye contact and a lot more to say and just was happy to just say what he needed to say without overthinking anything.

It was just so lovely.

So I'm going to continue on my coaching journey because it's just like I say it can it can really change people's lives if they can see that they don't have to they don't have to listen to their thinking.

They don't have to believe their thinking and whatever people have told them in the past about them or made comments about them you don't have to believe that.

You can just ignore those thoughts and those memories and just carry on from now and be in the present moment be happy where you are just tootling along doing your thing.

It's just just so wonderful.

So if I have any more coaching adventures I'll share those with you too.

Till we meet again.
