It's a beautiful day to be alive.
Welcome to this meditation.
Find your comfortable seated position or perhaps standing up and swaying from side to side.
Close your eyes and begin to breathe slow,
Deep breaths.
Inhaling through your nose for a count of 2,
3,
4.
Hold.
Exhale through your mouth for 6,
5,
4,
3,
2,
1.
Bring your awareness inwards.
Notice any tension.
Perhaps your shoulders,
Jaw or chest.
With each exhale,
Imagine releasing that tension.
Allow yourself to be here in this moment,
Free from past worries and future concerns.
Now gently imagine the breaking of a new day.
Feel the first glow of sunrise warming your skin.
Hear the faint whispers of a world waking up.
Birds chirping,
Leaves rustling,
Distant footsteps.
Bring in the idea of a beautiful day,
Awakening the sense of wonder inside you.
Perhaps in your mind you see a palette of light blues,
Pale yellows and soft pinks spreading across the sky.
Trust that this moment holds possibility and peace.
Now invite in gratitude and optimism.
Silently bring to your mind three things,
People,
Places,
Moments that you can appreciate today.
It might be the warmth of your bed,
A friendly colleague or the scent of your morning coffee.
As each image or memory arises,
Gently smile,
Breathe and give gratitude for each.
Now reflect on one thing you look forward to today,
However simple.
Let this anticipation fill you with light,
Ease and openness.
Now let's cultivate confidence and resilience,
Focusing now on your breath.
With each inhale I am open and with each exhale I am ready.
Repeat this after me,
I am open,
I am ready.
Embrace the underlying message,
Whatever today brings,
You have within you the strength,
The grace and the awareness to move through it,
Welcoming joy,
Challenges and all the colours in between.
Begin to deepen your breath,
Gently move your fingers and toes,
Bringing your awareness back into the room.
And when you are ready,
Softly open your eyes.
Take a moment to notice how you feel,
Physically,
Emotionally,
Mentally.
Carry this calm expansion with you,
Like your own quiet light within,
Into the rest of your day.
Blessings dear soul,
Namaste.
