Inner Child No.16: Healing the Inner Critic. This meditation is a healing balm for the inner child who grew up believing they had to be perfect to be loved. This journey is for you if you carry an internal voice that criticises, pressures, or holds impossible standards. Through deep inner connection and guided visualisation, you’ll meet the younger version of yourself who first absorbed those harsh messages — and you’ll begin the process of softening, rewriting, and releasing them. With presence, compassion, and loving affirmations, this meditation helps you dismantle the old stories of "not enough" and nurture a new, supportive voice rooted in truth and unconditional love. Your inner child doesn’t need to be fixed — only reminded that they are safe, worthy, and deeply enough, exactly as they are.

Hi,

Frankie here.

Welcome beautiful soul to this inner child meditation,

Healing the inner critic.

This is part of a powerful series I've designed to help you reconnect and heal your inner child.

Each meditation in this series focuses on a different aspect of inner child work.

From healing emotional wounds to rediscovering joy,

Offering forgiveness,

And reclaiming your inner strength.

By nurturing your inner child,

You create a foundation of self-love,

Confidence,

And emotional freedom.

During these meditations,

If or when emotions come up,

Just let them flow and hug yourself and your inner child.

You can also push pause or come back tomorrow to be with you.

Take a moment to settle in.

Bring in the knowing that this is a safe space for you to heal,

Grow,

And let go.

Take a deep breath in and slowly release it.

One more,

Breathe in deeply and let it go.

Feel your breath beginning to settle into a slow,

Steady,

Easy rhythm.

Let your body soften.

Feel your shoulders relaxing,

Your jaw releasing.

Let your hands rest gently by your side.

Feel the muscles in your face softening.

Let your belly relax.

With each breath,

Feel yourself becoming more supported.

Feel yourself becoming more grounded and at ease.

Now bring your awareness to your heart center.

Feel the soft rise and fall of your chest.

Begin to imagine a soft golden light forming in your heart.

This light is warm,

Soothing,

And calm.

The energy of unconditional love.

The energy of inner peace.

With each inhale,

Feel this golden light growing stronger.

With each exhale,

Feel it spreading through your body.

Down your arms,

Through your hands,

All the way into your feet and legs.

All the way up through to the crown of your head.

Let this light surround you,

Filling you with comfort and safety.

Now I invite you to gently begin to visualize your inner child standing before you.

See your inner child as clearly as possible.

Perhaps they are five or six years old.

Or maybe a different age comes to mind.

Just notice how they look.

Are they smiling or looking down?

Are they holding themselves tightly or standing with ease?

Just notice their posture.

Notice the expression on their face.

Slowly walk toward them.

Kneel down so you are at eye level with your inner child.

Gently take their hands and say,

I see you.

I am here with you.

You are safe now.

Notice how they respond.

They may be hesitant.

They may step towards you immediately.

Or they may look down,

Perhaps guarded or uncertain.

However they respond,

It's perfect.

Now gently ask your inner child,

What are the words you hear when you make a mistake?

What are the words you hear when you're not perfect?

Whose voice is it?

Let the answers naturally arise.

You may remember a parent saying,

You should have known better.

You may remember a teacher saying,

You're not trying hard enough.

You may hear the voice of a sibling,

A classmate,

Or even yourself,

Telling you,

You're not good enough.

Whatever arises,

Allow it to surface.

If you feel tension in your chest,

Breathe into it.

If you feel sadness or frustration,

Let it rise without judgement.

This is a safe space you are in now.

Now imagine that inner critical voice standing before you.

It may be yourself.

It may take the form of a parent,

A teacher,

Or just an energy within.

Perhaps a shape,

A shadow,

Or a presence.

See it standing before you.

Feel its weight,

The energy of pressure,

Judgement,

And fear.

Now gently say to it,

I see you.

I know why you're here.

But you don't belong here anymore.

Because you are not my truth.

That's right.

You do not belong here anymore.

You are not my truth.

Feel the golden light in your heart growing stronger now.

See it flowing towards this critical presence.

See the golden light surrounding this energy.

Watch as the energy softens.

Let it lose its shape.

Now say to it,

You were trying to protect me.

You thought criticism would make me stronger.

But I don't need that anymore.

I am strong enough without you.

Let's take three deep breaths together.

Breathe in golden light.

Breathe out the inner critic.

Breathe in golden light.

Breathe out the inner critic.

Breathe in golden light.

Breathe out the inner critic.

Now the inner critic's presence begins to fade.

See it dissolving into the golden light.

Feel the weight of its voice disappearing from your heart and mind.

Now turn to your inner child.

See them standing taller,

No longer weighed down by that voice.

Take their hand and say,

You don't need to be perfect.

You don't need to have all the answers.

You are allowed to make mistakes.

You are enough exactly as you are.

See your inner child beginning to breathe more easily.

See their posture straightening.

See the light in their eyes returning.

Feel the golden light between you growing stronger.

Now say to your inner child,

What would you rather hear?

What words would make you feel supported?

Maybe they need to hear,

You're doing your best.

You are loved no matter what.

Fear of failure should never stop you trying.

Now take their hands and say,

You are allowed to take your time.

You don't have to figure it all out.

You are loved not for what you do,

But for who you are.

You are enough.

You have always been enough.

Now imagine wrapping your arms around your inner child.

Hold them close.

Let them feel the steady beat of your heart.

Whisper to them,

You are safe with me.

You are free to try.

You are free to fail.

You are loved exactly as you are.

Now as you gently release the embrace,

See your inner child standing before you.

Glowing with confidence and ease.

Notice how they are standing taller.

Notice the light in their eyes.

And let them know you don't need to be perfect.

You are enough.

Now see your inner child beginning to merge with the golden light,

Becoming part of you once more.

Feel their strength,

Their confidence and their ease returning to you.

Feel it anchoring in your heart.

Take a deep breath in,

And slowly release it out.

Feel the peace of knowing you are enough.

Feel the strength of knowing you are no longer defined by that critical voice within.

You are whole.

You are free.

Now gently begin to bring your awareness back into your body.

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

Feel the warmth in your hands and feet.

When you are ready,

Slowly open your eyes.

Sit with the feeling of lightness and peace.

I invite you to give yourself a hug and give yourself some gratitude knowing that you are no longer defined by criticism.

You are no longer measured by how well you perform.

Because you are whole.

You are enough just as you are.

Blessings,

Blessings,

Blessings to you,

Dear soul,

On your journey here on planet Earth.

Namaste.
