Move from the outer world to the inner world; the abode of the heart. In this space is the essence of inner peace, calm, and true knowing. Connect with the light of the heart, the light that can never be dimmed. This practice involves visualization and surrender into support, protection, and lasting healing in the cave of the heart. Rest in the abode that is filled with the essence of the part of you that is part of everything.

Closing our eyes if that feels comfortable and for just a minute or so just watch the body breathe.

You're not trying to shape the breath in any way you're simply observing and watching the body breathe,

Inhaling and exhaling.

Notice the qualities of the breath,

The natural rhythm of the breath,

The texture,

If it's shallow or deep,

If there are breaks or stops in the breath or if it feels smooth,

Simply notice and then we'll take three powerful inhalations and exhalations.

So inhale to the top of the crown of your head,

Full inhalation as if you're pulling breath up from the soles of the feet to the crown of the head and even pause the breath for just a moment at the crown of the head and then exhale out through the mouth when you feel ready and do that two more times.

So big bigger biggest inhalation all the way from the soles of the feet to the crown of the head,

Pause the breath just for a moment at the crown of the head and then open mouth exhalation,

Let everything go and do that one more time.

Inhaling,

Whole body all the way to the crown of the head,

Pause the breath just for a moment at the crown of the head and then exhale out through the mouth and then you'll close the mouth,

Finding that sense of centeredness,

A grounding as you come into your seat.

Notice if you're holding any residual tension in the muscles of the face,

The jaw,

If you need to open and close your mouth,

The muscles around the neck and the shoulders,

The chest and the upper back,

The belly.

Notice if you're holding or gripping at the hips,

The buttocks,

The thighs,

The knees,

All the way down to the soles of the feet.

Let the body be relaxed but alert.

As you come into the seat,

As you come into this space of awareness,

Sense or feel a circle around you,

A circle made of fire and on this circle are all of your ancestors,

Your protectors,

The benevolent teachers and you feel the circle as a circle of protection and then moving outward,

Another circle,

A circle of air and all around this circle are the healers,

All of the healers in your life,

Some who have passed,

Some who are still here.

You feel the reverberation of that healing moving inward towards you in the center and then moving outward,

One more ring,

Another circle made of space and on this circle are all the wise ones,

The seers,

The rishis,

The ones with which revealed knowledge came to them and which they were willing to share and you feel this wisdom reverberating inward toward you,

Sitting in the center of these three circles,

The protectors,

The healers,

The wise ones and then bringing your awareness further inward,

Directly into the center of the chest,

The energetic heart center,

Anahata chakra,

Maybe even feeling the heart beating and with your awareness walking into this space and taking your seat,

Taking your asana at the center of the chest and the heart center and the abode or the cave of the heart and in that space,

Simply asking what do I need today?

What do I need today?

I'm listening for the answer and when you feel ready,

If you've heard what you need to hear,

Take a moment,

Bringing the chin down slightly honoring that space,

The abode itself,

The energy of the heart,

A light that can never be dimmed,

Honoring the circle of protection,

Of healing,

Of wisdom and the space that you occupy within it and then we'll go ahead and rub the hands together,

Creating some heat,

Some prana and if you have a place on your body that needs healing or an anointment or a blessing,

Go ahead and take the hands there and then we'll rub the hands together one more time,

Taking the hands to rest over the eyes,

Blinking the eyes open,

Just re-energizing the senses,

Maybe even rubbing the hands on the face a little bit,

Just coming back into the body and then we'll come back into our space.

This beautiful guided meditation draws you into the abode of the heart feeling the energy of your protectors, healers, sages and guides. It was a wonderful way for me to start again with a committed practice of turning toward the light after the Winter Solstice. Thank you Betsy for sharing your wisdom. 💫💞
