This meditation was inspired by therapeutic moments I've had sitting by the creek in my backyard. Connect with nature, your body and breath and intend to let go of what you've been holding or carrying as you watch the creek carry it away.

Welcome to Letting Go by The Creek.

My name is Amy Bechler and it is an honor to have you here.

I invite you to take a comfortable position,

Whether seated or lying down.

Beginning to close your eyes or soften your gaze and start to focus on your breath.

Without controlling your breath,

Simply noticing how your body is breathing itself.

Being the observer of your breath.

Watching the breath flow in and out.

In and out.

Body.

Breath.

And now we'll start to control the breath.

Growing the breath longer and deeper into the body,

Sending the inhale all the way down into the low belly and the low back.

Feel the body expand.

And on the exhale,

Emptying out all the way from the bottom to the top.

Breathe in this way for a few more rounds at your own pace.

Maybe even letting go with a sigh on the exhale.

Begin to come back to your normal pattern of breathing.

And start to visualize yourself sitting by a creek in the middle of a forest.

Maybe you're resting on a rock or grass.

Start to take in your surroundings and notice how your senses respond to this scenery.

Notice what you can see.

Feel.

Hear.

Smell.

And even taste.

As you start to relax by the creek,

Notice just how peaceful this natural space is.

A path intricately carved out by nature itself.

In the woods.

Filled with water rushing down from the top of a mountain.

Cascading over and around rocks.

How magical this moment is.

How peaceful you're beginning to feel here.

You watch as a leaf falls from a nearby tree.

And makes its journey down the creek.

And then you notice a stick nearby and decide to toss it in the water.

And you also watch that start to float along.

As you observe the peaceful flow of the creek.

You begin to ponder on what else you can toss in and watch leave.

Is there anything you've been holding?

Any thoughts,

Feelings,

Emotions?

Other people's worries,

The weight of the world.

Whatever immediately comes to mind.

I invite you to take a breath in.

And as you exhale,

Begin to gently toss what feels heaviest into the creek.

Watch it start to float away just as the leaf and stick did.

Notice how this feels.

And continue to check in with yourself.

Is there anything else you're holding that wants to be let go of?

Anywhere in your body you notice tension?

Imagine letting this go into the creek.

And watch it be carried away over and around the rocks.

Floating on or in the water.

Drifting off into the distance.

Notice how what you're letting go of isn't gripping or grasping.

It may get stuck on a rock,

But eventually make its way continuously down the creek.

Set the intention to effortlessly let go.

And take a moment to repeat this a few more times.

Checking in with yourself.

Noticing what else you may be holding or carrying.

Breathing and letting it go into the creek.

Breathing and letting go.

Knowing that letting go is only for this now moment.

What you're letting go of may come back,

And you get to let it go again.

And again.

And again.

Whenever you feel lighter.

Weightless.

Complete.

Notice what that experience was like of having let go of what you've been holding into the creek.

Thank the creek and its sacred waters for helping you to transmute some of what you've been carrying.

Taking another breath.

In and out.

Soak in the scenery once more.

Before bringing your awareness back to your body.

The surface beneath you.

And the room you are in.

Begin to wiggle your fingers and your toes.

Open your eyes when you're ready and bring yourself fully back to the present.

Thank you for joining me for this meditation of letting go by the creek.

May the rest of your day be filled with peace and ease.
