This meditation is going to help you prepare for the calm and positive birth of your baby.

Please get comfortable and when you're ready close your eyes.

If you want to,

Place a hand on your belly where your baby lies.

Take a few moments to release any tension in your body and to calm your mind,

Letting any thoughts or worries drift away.

Begin by connecting to your breath and your baby.

Breathe in through your nose.

Breathe out through your mouth.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

As you continue to breathe gently and slowly,

We're going to visualize your positive birth experience.

Picture yourself in your chosen labour setting with your care team around you.

What is the room like?

What is the lighting like?

How many people are with you?

Visualize how you want to be moving and breathing through your contractions.

Visualize how you would like to be supported by your care team at this time.

As you imagine seeing yourself in labour,

Calm and relaxed,

Allow the following affirmations to sink into your mind and body.

I breathe deeply and slowly through every contraction.

My contractions cannot be stronger than me because they are me.

I eat and drink little and often to keep my energy levels up.

I get into comfortable positions that feel right for me.

My cervix opens with ease.

My care team are by my side and on my side.

I embrace every labour sensation as natural,

Normal and safe.

I trust my body.

I trust my baby.

Now imagine your labour is advancing.

Contractions are getting longer and stronger.

Notice how confident and focused you are.

How are you moving?

How is your partner supporting you and encouraging you?

Let's practice breathing through a long contraction.

Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth as I guide you.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Well done.

Now allow the following affirmations to sink into your mind and body.

As my labour progresses I relax more deeply.

I harness the peaceful power of my breath.

My baby and I are working together as a team.

I can do this.

Every contraction brings me one step closer to meeting my beautiful baby.

I have patience with my body and my baby.

I have complete faith in my body's abilities.

Now visualize yourself in the final stages of labour.

Your cervix is fully dilated and your baby is coming down and out of your birth canal.

What position are you giving birth in?

How are you breathing?

Are you making any noises?

What positive words are your care team saying to you?

Now allow these affirmations to be absorbed into your mind and body.

My body opens for my baby to be born smoothly and comfortably.

Birth is powerful but so am I.

My baby is working with me to be born safely and healthily.

I soften,

I open,

I release.

I am so happy that my baby is finally coming to me.

I breathe my baby down and out.

My body knows what to do.

My baby will be born at the perfect time.

My baby senses the peace and calm that I feel.

I know my baby will be born safe and well.

I can't wait to hold my baby in my arms.

For the final few moments of this meditation,

Imagine yourself holding your baby against your chest,

Skin to skin.

Kissing your baby's head and snuggling them close to you to keep them cozy and warm.

You can have a calm and joyful birth experience.

And the more you listen to this meditation,

The more calm and confident you'll feel about giving birth to your baby.

For maximum benefit,

Listen to this meditation three to four times per week in your third trimester.

Sending you and your baby lots of love.
