Preoperative Intention Setting

This meditation is intended for people who are feeling anxiety, fear, hopelessness, anger, sadness, or uncertainty facing a medical procedure. I will walk you through the release of these negative emotions and then we will focus on a specific intention regarding the outcome of your procedure. I recommend doing this track in the weeks and days leading up to your procedure. For the day of the procedure, I recommend listening to my follow-up track, "Preoperative Calming", which is designed to bring you calming in the hours and moments before your experience.

Welcome,

I'm so glad you're here with me today.

If you have found this recording,

Then you are likely scheduled for some type of procedure coming up that may be bringing you anxiety,

Fear,

Or some other emotions.

Today we will set our intention for an outcome that we'd like to receive from this procedure.

In order to focus 100% and completely on this intention so we can bring it to fruition,

We will first release any anxieties we're having about said procedure.

So first,

Find your body's most comfortable position.

Let your eyes close.

Let your body relax from the top of your head to the tip of your toes.

And let's take a couple breaths together.

Breathe in,

And release.

One more breath in,

And release that breath fully.

Keep pushing out,

Push out,

Push out,

Push out,

And breathe in.

So for a moment,

We're going to allow ourselves to feel anxious,

Scared,

Sad,

Unsure,

Hopeless,

Angry,

Whatever emotion is coming up for you when you think about your procedure,

I want you to visualize that emotion right now.

We're going to visualize the emotion so clearly that we almost manifest it into an object.

So keep that emotion tight in your mind's eye.

Let your body feel it.

Allow yourself to feel this.

If you ignore your emotions or push them too far to the back,

They will not serve you in the way that they were meant to.

We feel our emotions for a reason.

So take that negativity,

That hopelessness,

That anxiety,

The fear,

The unsureness,

The uncertainty,

The anger,

Whatever it is,

Take it and hang on tight to it.

And in a second,

We're going to take a very deep breath,

And we're going to count backwards from 10 to 1.

We're going to release those emotions on our breath.

So on the count of 3,

I want you to take a very deep breath,

And we are going to try to breathe out for an entire 10 seconds.

And the goal is to breathe all of those emotions that you're manifesting so tightly right now into an object,

And just breathe them out and release them from your being.

We're going to take our deep breath on the count of 3,

1,

2,

3.

And release 10,

9,

8,

7,

6,

5,

4,

3,

2,

1.

Blow it out,

Blow it out,

Keep blowing out until you're empty,

And breathe.

So come back to your breath.

Find your comfortable breath.

Relax your body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.

And if you find there's any remaining negative or disruptive thoughts,

I want you to picture a beautiful,

Sunny day.

Maybe you're laying on the beach.

Maybe you're on a boat.

Maybe you're in the mountains.

Maybe you're on your front porch.

Or maybe you're just lying in the grass.

Wherever you are,

You look up to the sky and you see beautiful,

White,

Fluffy clouds floating by.

There's a slight breeze which tickles your skin and ruffles your hair a little bit.

And you see these beautiful,

Puffy clouds just floating by.

They don't have a care in the world.

They just enter your visual field and then they exit your visual field.

And if you find that you have any remaining negative or disruptive emotions or thoughts at this time,

I want you to look up,

Tilt your chin to that beautiful,

Blue sky,

And find a cloud and just release those thoughts and those emotions onto the cloud.

Release them as if the top of your head just opens up and those thoughts and emotions just float out onto the breeze,

Up into the sky,

Onto the cloud,

And they float away.

You should be feeling very relaxed,

Very empty,

Void of thoughts,

Void of emotions at this moment,

Just being.

We're just being right now.

And as you lie there,

Just being,

We're going to set a very clear one-sentence intention for the outcome of this procedure.

Maybe your intention is complete healing.

Maybe your intention is that you will take better care of yourself after this.

Maybe your intention is that you're going to work on healthier relationships or that you will have more confidence moving forth.

Maybe your intention is you will be pain-free.

Maybe your intention is that you will focus on loving yourself when this is all over.

Maybe it's something else.

Maybe it's something very specific to your situation.

Take a moment now to come up with your one-sentence intention and I'll give you a moment to do that.

Now that you have your one-sentence intention,

Let's speak that out loud.

Just say it out loud right now.

Let's repeat that intention five times.

Now that you've repeated that intention out loud five times,

It's out there in the world,

I want you to feel this intention in your physical body.

Find the offending source of the place where your procedure will take place and just send that intention directly to the spot or the area.

You're going to send the intention as if it's a physical object.

Feel it.

Feel it at the source.

Feel it in your mind.

Feel it in your body.

Feel it in your soul and send healing energy and love right to this part of your body.

While you are focusing all of your energy onto this spot in your body,

I want you to repeat your intention again out loud five times.

Go ahead and do that.

Friend,

Please come back to this meditation as many times as you need to.

You can do this exercise with or without this track.

Just relax your entire body,

Purge it of distracting thoughts,

Negative emotions.

Allow yourself to just be and then focus all your love,

All your healing,

All your positivity onto the place of your body where you're going to be having your procedure.

And say that intention.

Say it out loud.

And I would encourage you to repeat this intention throughout your day before you go to sleep at night,

First thing in the morning when you wake up,

Even if you don't have time to do the exercise where you do the breathing and then the purging and then the focusing.

Just repeat your intention as you go through your day.

Say it over and over again.

Focus on it,

Believe it,

Feel it,

And put it out there into the world.

Let's end today's session with two deep breaths.

You're going to breathe in and release,

And one more breath in and out.

Go ahead and come back to the space around you,

Wiggle your toes,

Wiggle your fingers and just relax.

Friend I wish you all the best.

I am sending you healing.

I am sending you positivity.

I'm sending you peace and calm.

And I pray that all will be well.
