I updated this meditation from the previous one. This is a mindfulness meditation, where I guide you to use your senses as you sip on a warm beverage of choice with full awareness, so be sure to have one ready! I find that this is a wonderful way to start your mindfulness practice if you have found it difficult to do in the past and is also a great practice to really just slow down and savor a nice treat. Enjoy!

Welcome to this mindfulness meditation practice where we'll explore the sensory experience of enjoying a hot beverage,

Whether it's a cup of tea,

Coffee,

Or any other warm drink.

Let's use this time to fully immerse ourselves in the present moment and savor the experience.

If you don't already have a beverage ready for this,

I invite you to pause this meditation to prepare one and then come back to it.

I invite you to shut down your eyes for a moment and begin by bringing your attention to the sensation of your breath.

Notice the rhythm of your inhales and exhales,

Allowing each breath to anchor you in the present moment.

Feel the gentle rise and fall of your chest with each inhale and exhale,

Allowing yourself to relax more deeply with each breath.

Become aware of how good it actually feels to just breathe.

Find a rhythm in it.

Now I invite you to open your eyes back up and to pick up your warm beverage in your hands,

And once you do so,

Close your eyes again for a moment to allow for yourself to really feel into the sensations more deeply.

Feel the warmth radiating from the cup,

Soothing and comforting you from the inside out.

Notice the weight of the cup in your hands,

The texture of the surface beneath your fingertips.

Allow yourself to fully appreciate the simple pleasure of holding a warm drink in your hands.

As you bring the cup closer to your face,

Take a moment to inhale deeply and savor the aroma rising from the steam.

Notice the rich,

Complex scent of the beverage,

Even if it may be subtle,

Allowing it to awaken your senses and heighten your awareness.

Allow yourself to be fully present with the scent,

Letting it fill you with a sense of calm and contentment.

Now,

Take a small sip of the hot beverage,

Allowing it to linger on your tongue for a moment before swallowing.

You may even want to swish it around your mouth for a few seconds.

Notice the temperature of the liquid as it enters your mouth,

The sensation of warmth spreading throughout your body with each sip.

Allow yourself to fully savor the taste of the beverage,

Noticing any subtle flavors or nuances that emerge.

As you continue to drink,

Pay attention to the sensation of the liquid moving down your throat and into your stomach.

Notice the feeling of warmth spreading through your body,

Comforting and nourishing you from within.

Allow yourself to fully surrender to the experience,

Loosening your shoulders,

Letting go of any thoughts or distractions as you immerse yourself in the present moment,

Slowing down and really just being in this process.

Notice what you hear around you as you are taking this time to sip your beverage.

What sounds are occurring in the background of the space around you?

Are there any sounds that you haven't noticed before?

What do you notice most loudly?

What do you notice most faintly?

If your eyes are closed,

Open them up for a moment.

What do you see around you as you sip your beverage?

What scene is unfolding before your eyes?

What colors are popping out?

Is there any object that is drawing your attention more than others?

As you continue sipping your beverage,

Take a moment to express gratitude for this simple pleasure.

Feel a sense of warmth and contentment spreading through your body as you appreciate the moment.

And as you're sitting here,

I invite you to think of three things right now that you are grateful for,

But instead of just rattling them off in your mind,

Really pause at each one and allow for yourself to really feel into the embodiment of that gratitude before moving on to the next.

Let a soft smile spread across your face.

Feel into it.

Know that you can return to this practice whenever you need a moment of calm and relaxation.

You can use this practice to assist in allowing for yourself to slow down and to soften into your day,

Ritualizing the process of these little treats,

Reminding yourself that you don't need to rush through life.

As you continue sipping,

I invite you to just be with the space around you.

Take a few deep breaths,

Inhaling deeply through the nose and exhaling slowly through the mouth.

If you haven't finished your beverage yet,

I invite you to continue doing so mindfully,

Fully dropping into the sensorial experience of it,

Free from any other distractions.

And really try to carry this sense of mindfulness and presence with you as you continue with your day,

Challenging yourself to see if you can find pleasure through your senses as you partake in even the simplest acts and try to just drop in momentarily,

Really drop into the experience of something in your day.

Thank you for joining me in this mindfulness meditation practice.

Remember that sensitivity is a skill and that each of these practices allow for you to feel into the root textures of your emotions with more depth,

Thus allowing for you to feel more richness and aliveness from within and to tap into your intuition so that you can really start to attune yourself to the subtle messages that your body is always feeding you,

Allowing you to live with more alignment.

Have a wonderful day.
