Hello,

My name is Avon,

And today is the second session on the Yamas of the Yoga Sutras.

The Yoga Sutras were compiled by Sri Bhutanjali of the Buddha's teachings around 2,

There's a complete yoga path,

Guidelines,

And a framework for living a content and realized life.

In the second book of the Sutras,

We find the Eight Limbs of Yoga,

The Eightfold Path of Enlightenment.

Previously,

We reflected upon Ahimsa,

Non-violence and peacefulness,

And today we will reflect and explore Satya,

Satya as truthfulness and integrity.

When we are established in truthfulness,

Our thoughts and words manifest effortlessly.

Sutra 2,

36 Today we'll be looking at the themes of Satya,

How they relate to us in our lives.

We'll be doing some reflection and a brief meditation and affirmations.

Satya,

Are we authentically living our true lives?

Where is the truth?

Truth lies in the present moment and within our physical body.

Truthfulness creates integrity,

Integrity in the way we move through our lives,

The words we use and the actions we take.

Do they line up with our intentions?

Satya,

Truthfulness and integrity.

How does that relate to us in our day-to-day lives?

We can listen inwardly to the body and to our intuition for what we feel is true.

We can watch our words and observe if they are kind,

If they are necessary,

And if they are peace-inducing.

And remember that not all truth needs speaking.

So where in your body can you sense or feel truth or untruth?

That old saying of gut instinct.

It can be a physical,

Visceral feeling within the body in each present moment.

Reflect upon a lie you have told and remember how it felt in your body and then notice how telling your truth,

How that makes you feel within your body and try to increase the habit of telling the truth.

And just notice if you're about to tell less than the truth and just shed some light on that,

Reroute to telling the truth.

You can spend a few moments in silence day-to-day,

Reflecting on your deepest level of your truth and step courageously to speaking and acting with integrity.

I'll guide you through a meditation on satya.

You can do this sitting up or laying down,

Making sure that the body can be at ease and taking any props,

Blankets or pillows that you might need throughout the meditation to be more comfortable.

Allowing the body to settle,

Making any last adjustments and then coming into stillness,

Closing the eyes,

Softening through the shoulders,

Relaxing in the face,

Relaxing and releasing through the jaw,

Allowing the whole body to be relaxed and free of tension.

Bringing your awareness to your breath,

The natural breath without any alteration,

Breathing through the nostrils if it's available to you today.

Awareness on each inhale and exhale,

Awareness in the breath.

Now bringing your awareness to the sacral chakra,

Svaristhana,

Just below your navel.

Notice how the breath moves this area of the body.

It gently rises and falls with the breath,

Imagining a glowing,

Warm,

Healing orange light around the belly and within the belly,

Nurturing,

Nourishing,

Orange light,

The area of the sacral chakra.

Imagining a warmth there,

As though the sun were warming up the belly,

Orange glowing light,

Healing the area,

Nourishing the sacral chakra,

Releasing the visualisation of the orange light.

Just coming back to your breath,

Silently repeating to yourself each affirmation that I speak.

As I live and express my truth,

I empower others to live and express theirs.

I speak my truth with integrity.

I speak my truth with compassion.

I live my life in alignment with my values.

I am true to myself.

Gently deepening and lengthening the breath,

Deepening the breath,

Keep deepening the breath until you're taking a few full,

Deep breaths.

And preparing to move,

Wriggling through the toes and fingers,

Taking a stretch if it feels right for you at the moment.

And when you're ready,

Opening the eyes to a soft gaze.

Thank you for being here today.

If you enjoyed the session,

Please rate and review and follow.

And I'll see you for the next session of the Yamas series.

Go well.
