Taoism is a Chinese religion and philosophy, founded more than 2,000 years ago by Lao Tzu or ‘Old Master’. Around 20 million followers are spread throughout China and Southeast Asia. Meaning 'way', Taoism is about following the right path in life. It is a religion of unity and opposites; Yin and Yang, representing Oneness. Taoists believe in many deities worhipped in temples and the primary texts Tao-te Ching and Chuang-tzu are central to the practice.
