How To Stop Beating Yourself Up - Letting Go Of The Inner Critic [Copied]
With Suryacitta (The Happy Buddha)
To stop the inner critic, you don’t need to argue with it or improve it — you need to see what it is. The critical voice is not you; it is a stream of conditioned thoughts trying to protect an imagined self. When a harsh thought appears (“I’m failing,” “I’m not enough”), notice it as a sound in the mind, no different from a passing noise. Don’t follow it, don’t fix it — simply let it be seen. In that moment of seeing, a deeper, kinder awareness is already here, untouched by judgment. As you rest in that presence, the critic loses its authority, not because it’s defeated, but because it’s no longer believed.
