Introduction To Yoga For The Pelvic Floor - 60 Minutes

With Kim Wenger Hall

Intro to Yoga for the Pelvic Floor (60 minutes) (hop on 5 minutes early - we start at the half-hour) Props: two blocks, a blanket, and a bolster or sturdy pillow. We will include weight-bearing shapes such as plank, chaturanga, and downward-facing dog. For a gentler option, explore my Chair Yoga for the Pelvic Floor class here on Insight Timer. Finally, a movement practice for people who know their pelvic floor needs attention—and also know it’s never just one muscle causing the symptoms. Leaking, hip pain, low back pain… they’re all connected, and your healing begins when you start moving with that truth in mind. This gentle, grounded yoga class supports pelvic floor health through whole-body movement, breath, and somatic awareness. We’ll begin with a short anatomy primer to illuminate why these practices are effective—and why isolated strengthening like Kegels can sometimes do more harm than good. As we move, you’ll feel how posture, breath, and the nervous system quietly shape pelvic floor function. Each sequence is designed to help you ease tension, restore balance, and rediscover awareness of the parts of your body that have been asking for your attention. Clear, concise anatomy insights are woven throughout, helping you recognize unhelpful patterns and reestablish healthier ones. This practice is especially supportive if you’ve experienced incontinence, pelvic pain, or dysfunction that hasn’t responded to traditional approaches—and you’re ready to feel more at home in your body again. Please note: This class is intended for those cleared by a physician or pelvic floor physical therapist to begin gentle movement. It is not suitable for anyone with active, unmanaged pelvic organ prolapse or diastasis recti unless under medical guidance. 💫 If this practice brings you relief or a renewed sense of possibility, consider offering your support by sharing so others can find the same. Every shared moment of healing makes the circle stronger.
