Calling Off the Predator: A Somatic Compassion Reset

With Jose Sel de Felipe

A clinical somatic practice to disarm the inner critic, release oxytocin, and signal deep biological safety to a hostile nervous system. The brain's amygdala cannot tell the difference between an external physical threat (like a predator) and an internal psychological threat (like your own harsh inner critic). For the high-achiever, the inner critic is a constant companion. When we relentlessly tell ourselves we are "falling behind" or "not doing enough," we trigger a biological threat response. This internal hostility keeps the nervous system's 'ON' button jammed, flooding the vessel with cortisol and preventing the parasympathetic state from ever activating. In this session, we are calling off the predator. Moving beyond simple breathwork, we will use clinical somatic touch and the mindfulness framework of RAIN (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nurture) to actively disarm the critic. By engaging the mammalian care-giving system, we will release oxytocin, physically lower the resting heart rate, and rebuild profound psychological safety from the inside out.
