The Practice Of Presence For Relief From Anxiety & Stress - Guided Meditation & Supportive Discussion [Copied]

With Corin Bryant

*N.B - This is not intended to replace any professional input you may be receiving for an anxiety disorder or clinical stress, this is a complementary meditative practice that alleviates the distress caused by anxious and stressed states* Join us this week for a deep and compassionate meditation on the phenomena of Fear and explore some techniques, practices and meditations that were so helpful for me in my own recovery from anxiety. The underpinning principle of this session is the neutralization of anxiety by learning to stay present and conscious even when anxious and fearful thoughts are making the body and Mind agitated. By directing attention inwards into the reality of the sensations of anxiety in the present moment we find that this feeling of fear can be managed, mitigated and feels far, far less distressing than it does when we are caught up in the Mind. Speaking from experience I know how horrible these conditions are, my primary message is one of hope and optimism, what I want people to get from the session today is that recovery is achievable and with some guidance you can find a way forwards that is appropriate and practical for you. This session is designed with practicality in mind and will contain practices and pointers on how to utilize meditative and spiritual principles in daily life to reduce anxiety and stress and develop true inner peace and wellbeing. Almost ALL traditions, practices, philosophies, religions, beliefs and sciences emphasise the importance of staying Present and Conscious as a means to inner peace and happiness, so there is no singular origin for the teaching in this session, however those familiar with Buddhism and Eckhart Tolle's work will find the principles familiar. This session may be of particular benefit to those exploring the 10 Fetters model. The guided meditation will be between 20/30 minutes and followed by an informal Q&A with continued guided practice (Satsang style) All of these sessions contain advice on how to carry this practice through into daily life and pointers on deepening spiritual and meditative practice. Theses sessions are often light-hearted and often includes references to artifacts in pop-culture to illustrate the principles. Metaphors are often taken from films like The Matrix, Lord Of The Rings, Truman Show, and Shutter Island to open discussion and make the philosophies discussed accessible. (The relative individual practice of Emotional Healing and Shadow Work as they relate to meditation and Spirituality will be covered in the Sunday sessions.)
