Coming Home: A Yoga Nidra for the Root Chakra (Mulādhāra)

With Leslie DMello

The root chakra, Mulādhāra, is the foundation of the subtle body. It governs our sense of safety, stability, and belonging — not as ideas, but as lived experience in the body. In modern life, this foundation is often challenged. Even when things appear “fine,” the nervous system may remain on alert, showing up as restlessness, chronic tension, difficulty resting, or a constant sense of needing to prepare for what’s next. This 60-minute experiential event invites you to explore Mulādhāra not through effort or analysis, but through deep, embodied rest. We begin with a short teaching on the root chakra — its connection to the element of earth, the instinct for survival, and how imbalance often appears today as feeling ungrounded, unsafe, or unable to fully relax. From there, you’ll be guided into a restorative Yoga Nidra practice with emphasis on grounding, body awareness, and the felt sense of being supported. Through gentle rotation of awareness, breath, and earth-based visualization, the nervous system is invited to settle — allowing the body to remember that it is held. The session closes with a short reflective poem, offering integration beyond the practice. All levels welcome. No prior experience necessary.
