Oftentimes we are operating, whether consciously or unconsciously, out of habituated responses: emotional reactions, nervous system responses, underlying beliefs, or even cultural or intergenerational patterns. When we slow down, and practice awareness, meditation or any consciousness shifting practice over time, we can begin to have more space between stimulus and response; that is, more space between our reactions, our thoughts, even our beliefs. Through this space we often begin to notice the opportunity to choose, responses, actions, behaviors, even beliefs that are more in harmony, with ease, capacity and our true Authentic Selves.
