Just spend a few moments now with your eyes closed,
Allowing your breathing to settle down to the most relaxed rate for you to rest easy now,
Focusing on each gentle breath in and out.
Just taking some time to notice how it feels as it enters and leaves the body,
That gentle rise and fall,
Breathing in deeply,
Breathing out completely.
And you could take a moment now to imagine what a colour of relaxation might be like for you,
Allowing that to come to mind as you sink deeper,
Perhaps connecting it up with the breath.
And it might be a colour you expect,
Or a colour that surprises you,
Whatever it may be,
Gently breathing in relaxation and breathing out any tension that you might be holding in your body or mind.
Just noticing with each breath in,
You're absorbing that colour of relaxation more and more.
And I wonder how it might be to imagine allowing that breath to flow down even deeper,
Gently,
All the way down into your diaphragm,
That gentle rise and fall,
As you begin to sink down to just the level of relaxation that's right for you now.
Perhaps noticing how your body can begin to feel heavier and heavier the more it rests,
With each easy breath,
Letting that feeling sink deeper and deeper down into your shoulders and arms and to the very ends of your fingertips.
Noticing the difference in how they feel,
More and more relaxed,
Perhaps sinking down through your chest,
Flowing around your shoulder blades and into all of the muscles of the back now.
And I wonder how it would be if you were to notice that feeling rippling all the way down your spine,
Allowing the space between each vertebra to open up as you sink deeper.
Your spine filling up with that relaxing energy as you continue to pay attention to your breath.
Just noticing how you could send that relaxing feeling down into the tops of your thighs now,
Flowing all the way down your legs and into your feet.
Your toes relaxing completely as you rest.
So you might just become aware,
If your legs were to become as heavy as your arms,
Of just where they're resting,
Your whole body completely supported,
Allowing your mind free to wander.
So that if you were to imagine now,
Going off to a special,
Restorative place of relaxation for you,
I wonder what that might be like.
The most relaxing place you could imagine going to,
And what you would hear or see around you that would let you know that this is a place where you can let go in just the right way for you now.
Perhaps it's somewhere you've been before,
Or somewhere completely imagined.
What it would be about this place that could remind you of all those feelings inside of you,
Of calm,
Of peace,
Of deep,
Full relaxation and rest.
All of those things as you remember them now.
And just take some time to get to know this place,
And to notice what it is about it that makes it so special for you.
What do you see around you?
What can you hear in this space?
What can you feel here?
Because if you look around,
You could notice what it is that increases that calm,
Restful feeling inside.
Because this is a special place for you to enjoy.
A place that always exists inside of you,
Whenever you need it.
And that could just make you smile on the inside,
As you relax even further now.
To know that you have access to this place whenever you need it,
Or want it.
It always belongs to you.
And it could be a comforting thing to remember that we all have different levels that we experience during relaxation.
So just notice now,
If you were to sink to the level of relaxation below the one you're currently on,
What that might be like.
What would change,
And what would stay the same,
In and out of your awareness.
And if you were to sink to the level below that,
Noticing the similarities and the differences.
Because in this place your mind can be so much more open to new ways of supporting you.
All of the ways that you can let go now,
As you find that balance of gentle awareness and peace.
That means you have everything you need to enjoy so much more of just being you.
Restoring,
Refreshing,
Relaxing.
And because this is such a natural process,
Your unconscious mind already has just what it needs for you to experience this so much deeper each time you listen.
So you could find it easier and easier to trust that you can let go in just the right way.
Releasing any thoughts that might once have got in the way of,
You're able to experience that calm relaxation now.
And because increasingly your mind can be growing in the understanding of how to look after you in the most positive of ways.
That just means you can relax and trust now,
Can't you?
And it might only be later,
Looking back,
That you realise that at the deepest level,
Your mind knows just how to increase your awareness of how to take care of yourself.
To nurture you,
To support you in your relaxation.
And neither of us knows exactly what the learning might be that allows you to do this easily now.
Just that that learning can continue to grow as you take this time for you now.
And so all I need to do for your mind to take from this listening,
Just what it needs to today to support you in the most powerful and positive of ways,
Is just to count from 1 to 5.
So that on the count of 1,
Just allowing your mind to take a moment to absorb everything it needs to from this listening.
On 2,
Taking a deep breath,
Storing all of that relaxation inside of your body and mind.
On the count of 3,
Feeling the weight of your heavy fingers and toes as they slowly return to normal.
On 4,
Listening again to the sounds around you,
As you become more and more aware.
And on 5,
Opening your eyes and coming back to full awareness,
With enough energy to get on with whatever is next in your day.
