Transcript
Welcome to this guided meditation.
This meditation is to help ground yourself in the present moment while building the practice of being patient.
Find a comfortable position,
Either sitting or lying down.
Rest your hands gently in your lap,
Chest,
Or beside you.
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths,
Inhaling slowly through your nose and exhaling gently through your mouth.
With each breath,
Feel your body begin to relax.
Let go of any tension in your shoulders,
Neck,
And jaw.
Focus on your breath and notice the natural rhythm of your breathing without trying to change it.
Feel the rise and fall of your chest and stomach with each inhale and exhale.
Allow yourself to become fully absorbed in this gentle,
Rhythmic movement.
I invite you for the next few minutes to release your ego with each breath.
Trust the universe and let go of the steering wheel.
Let go of outcomes.
Let go of the hustle and bustle of life.
Let go of demands.
Let go of responsibilities and deadlines.
Let go of control.
Impatience often arises when our minds are fixed on a future outcome,
Wanting our desires and wishes to manifest immediately,
Whether it be an announcement,
A call from a friend,
A job offer,
Traffic,
Or the grocery line to hurry up,
Or a child delaying bedtime.
Whatever is driving our impatience is pulling us away from the present moment.
We are waiting for the arrival of something or someone,
And potentially missing out on opportunities around us in the here and now.
Now think of a situation when you often feel impatient.
Visualize the situation clearly in your mind.
Imagine yourself handling the situation with a sense of patience and mindfulness.
See yourself fully engaged in the present moment.
Accepting the delay or difficulty without frustration.
Feel how the shift in focus brings you peace and clarity.
With each breath,
Allow this frustration and impatience to dissipate.
Allow each breath to anchor you in the present moment.
Silently repeat each phrase after me,
Feeling the truth of each word resonate within you.
I am fully present at this moment.
I accept delays and difficulties with mindfulness and grace.
I am aware of my wants and needs,
Yet I remain centered and calm.
Patience allows me to appreciate the blessings of the present.
I am patient with myself and others,
Embracing the here and now.
As we come to the end of this meditation,
Bring your awareness back to your breath.
Notice the steady rhythm of your breathing.
Feel the support of the ground beneath you and the space around you.
When you are ready,
Gently wiggle your fingers and toes,
Slowly open your eyes,
Bringing your awareness back to the room.
Take a moment to notice how you feel calmer,
More centered,
And fully present in the moment.
Thank you for meditating with me.
