These days,

We're so ruled by our calendars,

Booking in one appointment after the next,

Running from one meeting to the next,

That even though we might know intellectually how important it is to give ourselves a break during the day,

How often do we actually give ourselves this time?

So I'd love to invite you to join me in today's Yoga Nidra or non-sleep deep rest session,

Where we'll take the next 10 to 15 minutes to bask in a deep rest,

So getting as comfortable as you can wherever you are,

And you're very welcome to do this practice either sitting up in your chair or lying down,

Either on a sofa in a meeting room or simply on the floor.

And if you can make yourself just 5 to 10% more comfortable,

Go ahead and do that.

It is my honor to guide you today.

My name is Jamie Tan at Light & Spoon,

Feeding your mind,

Body,

Soul.

And on this channel,

We're all about adapting ancient practices to help support a busy modern.

So let's start with the intention to let go of the day that came before this and to let go of the day that's coming after this and simply sit here and allow yourself to be,

Staying open and curious to whatever might arise.

Now take a few moments to feel into whether you have a heartfelt desire for this life and that's stated in the present tense.

So perhaps it could very simply be,

How might this deep rest practice support my overall well-being?

Or it could be a statement with a value that you'd love to work towards.

For example,

I am whole and complete.

I move towards joy and fun in this life.

Whatever works for you right now in this moment.

Now bringing attention to the crown of the head,

Gathering all sensations in the crown of the head,

And then sensing and feeling sensations moving all the way through to the forehead,

Through the eyebrows,

Down the temples,

Across the cheekbones,

Flowing down through the nose,

And then drawing sensations all the way down into the lips,

To the outside of the lips,

And then traveling sensations all the way inside of the mouth,

Sensations inside the cheeks,

And then drawing sensations down under the tongue,

Perhaps into the jaw,

Noticing all of the sensations present in the jaw,

And then drawing sensations down the neck,

And traveling sensations across the top of the right shoulder,

Down the right arm,

And all the way into the right wrist,

Thumb,

Second finger,

Middle finger,

Fourth finger,

Pinky finger,

Palm of the right hand,

Back of the right hand,

The entire right hand,

And then the sensation,

Moving sensations all the way back up through the right arm,

Across the top of the right shoulder,

And then traveling sensation across the top of the left shoulder,

Traveling sensations all the way down the left arm,

Into the left wrist,

Thumb,

Second finger,

Middle finger,

Fourth finger,

Pinky finger,

Palm of the left hand,

Back of the left hand,

The entire left hand,

Alive with sensation,

And then traveling sensations all the way back up the left arm again,

Across the top of the left shoulder,

Into the base of the throat,

Now sensations traveling down the chest,

All the way through your midsection,

Through the torso,

Through the waist,

Into the belly,

Noticing all of the sensations in the abdomen,

And then gathering sensation in the right hip,

And then traveling sensation down the right thigh,

All the way down into the ankle,

Sensation traveling across the top of the right foot,

Into the big toe,

Second toe,

Middle toe,

Fourth toe,

Baby toe,

Sole of the right foot,

Top of the right foot,

The entire right,

As radiant sensation,

Traveling sensation all the way back up the right leg again,

Into the right hip,

Slowly,

Slowly sensing and feeling from the right hip,

Through the pelvis,

Into the left hip,

And gathering sensation in the left hip,

Now slowly,

Gently working your way down that left leg,

Sensations through the left thigh,

All the way down into the left ankle,

Traveling sensation across the top of the left foot,

Into the big toe,

Second toe,

Middle toe,

Fourth toe,

Baby toe,

Sole of the left foot,

Top of the left foot,

The entire left,

Lighting up the sensation,

Now sensing and feeling the front side of the body as sensation,

This radiant pulsating energy and life force in the front of the body,

Now sensing and feeling the back side of the body as radiant sensation,

Back side of the body as sensation,

Now both front and back sides of the body at the same time,

Alive with sensation,

Noticing all of the vibrancy that's here,

Perhaps there's a warmth or a tingling,

Perhaps even an effervescence,

Sensing and feeling through the entire body,

Perhaps even moving through the skin boundary to the space around the body,

Alive with sensation,

Let's take a deep breath in through the nose,

Then exhale through the mouth,

Two more times,

Inhale deeply through the nose,

Exhale through the mouth,

One last time,

Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth,

Letting control of all of the breath and simply noticing what is present in this moment,

The sensations arising,

Perhaps thoughts or images that might be accompanying these sensations or maybe even emotions that might be present,

Allowing them all to be,

All of these changing sensations,

Images,

Emotions,

All arising out of a deeper presence,

Watching all of these sensations,

Images and emotions arising,

Shifting,

Being,

Noticing a sense of ease that might also be present,

Once again touching back into the heartfelt desire you set at the start of this session,

I am whole and complete,

This deep breath supports my well-being,

Touching back into the intention we set at the start of this session and taking a moment to thank yourself for taking this time for you,

Allowing yourself to be,

To be held in this deep rest,

May this rest continue to support and nourish you as you continue about the rest of your day,

In your own time,

Whenever you're ready,

Bringing some movement again back to the body,

You might like to raise the arms overhead and give yourself a nice big stretch,
