By slowing down your breathing to around five to six breaths a minute, with an equal inhalation and exhalation, you can positively affect your emotional wellbeing and build resilience to stress. This is a shorter version of my 'Breathe Your Way Into Wellbeing: The Resonance Breath' guided meditation. It's for those already familiar with conscious abdominal breathing, and who would like a simple guided practice they can use on a daily basis, or more regularly if they wish. For a deeper and longer dive into the Resonance Breath, including the science and biology behind what makes it so powerful, please checkout my other recording. For the full immersion please listen with earphones.

Welcome to your 5 minute practice of the resonance breath.

Wherever you are,

Sitting,

Standing or lying down,

Eyes open or closed,

For the next 5 minutes we'll be slowing down our breathing to around 5-6 breaths a minute.

And equal inhalation and exhalation.

Gently breathing in and breathing out.

Practice this each day to positively affect your emotional wellbeing and build resilience to stress.

Let's begin with one big deep breath in through the nose.

Breathing out through the mouth,

Give your body a gentle rustle to release any obvious areas of tension.

Feeling your way into the physical sensations of your body.

Paying attention to your belly,

Noticing the rise and the fall.

Now catch a ride on the ethereal sound as it guides your breath in and out.

Breathing in,

Breathing out.

For the next 5 minutes,

Settling in to the resonance breath.

If your mind wanders,

That's ok.

The resonance breath is still there waiting for you.

Breathing in,

Breathing out.

Breathing in,

Breathing out.

Breathing in,

Let it all go.

Breathing out,

Let it all be.

Letting go now of the effort to control your breath.

Letting go of any effort you are making.

Pausing for a moment in the effects of your practice.

Take this little moment of coherence in your body,

This gentle rebalancing and ease yourself back into your day.
